KABELO is a tribute to a man who lived a free life—Manie Engelbrecht, affectionately known as “Die Avonturier”. A true pioneer at heart, Manie had an unshakable love for the road less travelled and a deep longing to explore the untouched beauty of Africa. But even more than adventure, he loved his family—with a fierce and unwavering heart.
In the quiet chaos of the pandemic, KABELO was born—an idea shaped by Manie’s vision, built on heritage, and crafted with intention. Manie saw an opportunity—to create something beautiful, durable, and meaningful. Inspired by the Land Cruiser lifestyle, he began designing luxury leather armrests, not just as accessories, but as functional pieces of comfort and craftsmanship for those who live for open roads and remote places. To him, it was never just a business. It was a way to bring people together. A way to honour craftsmanship. A way to build something that will last, and serve others with meaning and purpose.
He was a man of depth—a proud father, devoted husband, respected businessman, and beloved friend. The name KABELO, rooted in Setswana and Sepedi, means “a gift, an inheritance, something that has been passed down.” And that’s exactly what it is—a piece of him. A legacy built with heart, soul, and family.
After his passing, his children took the reins—with full hearts and steady hands—carrying forward what he started, and what he believed in so passionately.
